📄 About This Site

Real zoos are a great source of inspiration when building on Planet Zoo but unfortunately we can't always visit zoos as often as we'd like.

I created this blog to share hundreds of photos I've taken at zoos to hopefully inspire your builds! Each photo has been painstakingly labeled to make finding specific things much easier.

Please note the following:

  • If an animal from the game isn't listed, it's because I haven't photographed anything relevant to it.
  • Specific exhibit animals aren't featured with the exception of walkthrough exhibit animals. However, Reptile Houses and the exteriors of Exhibits are featured.
  • Habitat photos are labeled for the most appropriate Planet Zoo species. This is why you might see, for example, a Nile crocodile enclosure labeled for saltwater crocodile.
  • Only animals we have in the game are featured, so there's no aquariums or modded animals. In the case of aviaries, I've only added ones which could realistically accommodate our current aviary birds (Indian peafowl, red-crowned crane and greater flamingo).
  • Some zoos have been visited and photographed at different times, so some things may look different between photos. I've added a year label to indicate the year photos were taken.
  • I've added photos of zoos of all types, including both high-budget and low-budget ones, and ones which may have questionable animal welfare standards. This is because Planet Zoo offers a lot of creative freedom and, whilst many people enjoy building the larger, higher-budget zoos with high standards of animal welfare, sometimes people do like to build smaller, lower budget zoos with lesser standards just for realism.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear them over on the Contact / Feedback page.
